Five more named to All-RMAC second team

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Led by first-team selections Zach Schuler and Jesse Velders, the MSU Denver baseball team has had seven players named All-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference in voting by league coaches.
 
Schuler repeated as the first team designated hitter, while Velders is on the of the league's four first-team outfielders.
 
Pitchers Jack Slominski and Dylan Webber, second baseman Tyler Tobey, first baseman Jake Williams and outfielder Cam Yuran have been named to the All-RMAC second team.
 
Additionally, pitcher Reichle Arcilise and third baseman Cal Walsh have been named All-RMAC honorable mention, and Slominski earned an RMAC Gold Glove for defensive excellence at his position.
 
Schuler, named All-America first team by two organizations and second team by another last season, is batting .373 with 20 homers and 71 RBIs. He leads the RMAC and ranks eighth in Division II with 20 home runs. He's also ninth among active Division II players with 49 career homers, which is the MSU Denver all-time record (one more than Williams). He's second in the RMAC and fourth in the country with 0.43 home runs per game, ranks third and seventh in RBIs per game (1.51), third and 13th in RBIs, third and 13th in slugging percentage (.822) and third and 25th in total bases (139). Schuler also ranks in the RMAC's top 10 in walks (33), walks per game (0.70) and doubles (16), and is 11th in on-base percentage (.488) and runs (52). He's also ninth among active Division II players with a .739 career slugging percentage and 13th with 186 career RBIs. On the MSU Denver career lists, Schuler ranks second in program history in total bases (399), third in RBIs, fourth in slugging, eighth in runs (169), tied for ninth in doubles (46), 10th in hits (200) and tied for 10th in walks (92).
 
Velders was the RMAC's regular-season batting champion with a .476 average that ranks second nationally in Division II while adding 10 homers, 57 RBIs and 11 stolen bases. He's also first in in the RMAC and third in the country in on-base percentage (.571), second in both the RMAC and Division II in slugging percentage (.888), third and fifth in doubles per game (0.48), second and 11th in doubles (21), fourth and 25th in runs per game (1.32) and fifth and 37th in hits per game (1.55). He's also in the RMAC's top 10 in hit by pitch (16) hit by pitch per game (0.36), hits (68), home runs, runs (58), RBIs, RBIs per game (1.30), sacrifice flies (four), total bases (127), toughest to strike out (1 per 11.9 at-bats), triples (four) and triples per game (0.09). He's on pace for the second best single-season averages in slugging and on-base percentage. as well as the third-best batting average, in program history.
 
Williams, who earned All-America second-team honors from two organizations and third-team recognition from another last season, is batting .341 with 12 homers and 53 RBIs in 2024. He's eighth in the RMAC in home runs, seventh in home runs per game (0.25), ninth in RBIs, and he shares the league lead with eight sacrifice flies – which is tied for fourth in the country. In career statistics among active Division II players, he ranks sixth in slugging percentage (.746), 10th in home runs (48) and 15th in RBIs (185), putting him second, second and fourth in those categories in program history. Also on the MSU Denver career charts, he's fifth in total bases (382), ninth on on-base percentage (.481) and ninth in runs (163). He's been hit by pitch a program-record 49 times in his career.
 
Yuran, a two-time preseason All-American, is a two-time All-RMAC second team selection who was on the All-RMAC first team last season. The 2022 RMAC Freshman of the Year is batting .342 with nine homers, 46 RBIs and 16 stolen bases – tied for fourth in the RMAC. In career totals among active Division II players, the junior is 11th in slugging percentage (.730), 15th in walks (117) and runs (192), 17th in doubles (51) and on-base percentage (.494), 24th in homers (40), 25th in total bases (384) and 28th in RBIs (165). On the MSU Denver career list, he's second in both runs and walks, fourth in both homers and total bases, tied for fourth in doubles, fifth in slugging, sixth in on-base percentage, eighth in RBIs and ninth in hits (201).
 
Slominski, All-RMAC first team last season, is 6-4 with a 6.47 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings, and he has also earned one save. He leads the RMAC in strikeouts, strikeout-to-walk ratio (7.89 to 1) and fewest walks per nine innings (1.12), ranking 71st, fourth and seventh in those categories in Division II. He's tied for the RMAC lead with 13 games started, ranks third in wins, and is seventh in strikeouts per nine innings (8.8). In just two seasons at MSU Denver, he's 15-6 with a 6.10 ERA and 129 strikeouts in 143 innings, and ranks second all-time at MSU Denver in walks per nine (1.83), tied for eighth in wins and 19th in strikeouts. He earned the RMAC Gold Glove with flawless fielding in 18 total chances this season, recording seven putouts and 11 assists.
 
Tobey, a sophomore transfer, is batting .385 with 20 doubles, three homers and 32 RBIs in his first season with the Roadrunners. He's tied for the Division II lead with 0.50 doubles per game, ranks third in the RMAC and 19th nationally with 20 doubles and is 12th in the RMAC in batting.
 
Webber, a junior transfer in his first season at MSU Denver, is 5-2 with a team-best 6.27 ERA in 13 appearances, including nine starts covering 56 innings.
 
Arcilise, was the RMAC Co-Freshman Pitcher of the Year in 2021, was All-RMAC second team in 2022, and was on the All-RMAC first team last season. MSU Denver's all-time strikeouts leader with 235, he's 4-2 this season with a 6.79 ERA and 56 strikeouts in 53 innings, ranking second in the RMAC with 9.5 strikeouts per nine innings and sixth in strikeout-to-walk ratio (2.95 to 1). For his career, he's 18-9 with a 5.10 ERA, and he is the program's all-time career leader with 11.0 strikeouts per nine innings while also ranking tied for fourth in wins, 10th in games started (32) and 10th in innings pitched (192 1/3). In career statistics among active Division II players, he's 24th in strikeouts, 39th in strikeouts per nine innings, and 48th in wins.
 
Walsh, a junior transfer in his first season with the Roadrunners, is batting .316 with nine homers and 30 RBIs.
