GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – MSU Denver relief pitcher
Zane Covey has been named the RMAC's Summit Award winner for baseball.
The Summit Award goes to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average who is a sophomore or above academically, is in his second year of competition at their current institution, is an active member on the roster, has competed in 20 percent of available competitions and is traveling to, and competing, at the championship site.
Covey, a sophomore athletically, has a 4.0 GPA while majoring in business administration.
The left-hander has appeared in 17 games out of the Roadrunners' bullpen, compiling a record of 2-3 with one save and a 7.50 ERA in 18 innings, striking out 15.
He is the MSU Denver baseball program's first-ever Summit Award winner.
