LOS ANGELES – No. 3 Cal State Los Angeles scored in the 60
th minute and held on to defeat MSU Denver 1-0 Sunday in men's soccer.
Cal State Los Angeles had a 14-10 advantage in shots, but had just a 5-4 margin in shots on goal. MSU Denver had more corner kicks than the Golden Eagles, 6-4.
Luke Bone put two shots on goal for the Roadrunners, while
Matt Vogel and
Charlie Matsumoto each had one.
Goalkeeper
Nick McNeil had four saves.
Cal State Los Angeles, national quarterfinalists last season, improved to 4-0-1, including a 4-1 home win Friday over Colorado School of Mines.
MSU Denver (1-4-1) will play a non-conference home match with conference foe Westminster on Thursday at 3:30 p.m., in a Homecoming doubleheader that also includes a women's game against Regis at 6 p.m.
