SPEARFISH, South Dakota: The MSU Denver Women's Soccer team recorded another draw on Saturday afternoon, tying Black Hills State University 1-1 in a match hosted by the Yellow Jackets.
The Roadrunners now sit at 1-4-3, while the Yellow Jackets are 1-5-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
In the first half, the Yellow Jackets came out firing, while logging 4 shots and finishing with a goal by Aubri Roth in the 12th minute. The rest of the first half was scoreless, as the home team outshot the Roadrunners 10-2.
It seemed like the Yellow Jackets would run away with the one-goal win with only 20 minutes to go. However, with 19 minutes left, Madeline Everett won a key tackle and handed it off to Madrid Mack. Mack set-up Meg Gonzalez on the right wing, who split two defenders with a cross to an open Isa Durkin on the left post. Durkin used her left foot to find the back of the net at the 71st minute.
Durkin's goal marks the sixth of her career. It was also the third career assist for Gonzalez, and first for her this season.
Roadrunners goalkeeper Kayla Caballero made six saves against the Yellow Jackets. Black Hills State University outshot MSU Denver 23-6, and the Yellow Jackets also led with 7-4 shots on goal.
MSU Denver will host Adams State on Friday, October 24th for Senior Night. Kickoff will take place at 6pm.
