DENVER — On an afternoon filled with milestones, the No. 10 MSU Denver Roadrunners closed out the regular season in championship fashion, defeating New Mexico Highlands 3–1 (25-10, 25-7, 17-25, 25-15) at the Auraria Event Center to clinch their fifth consecutive RMAC regular-season title. With the win, MSU Denver improves to 24-3 overall and 14-1 in RMAC play, while New Mexico Highlands falls to 12-17 (4-11 RMAC).
The victory also extends the Roadrunners' winning streak to 14 straight matches, matching last season's longest streak, and continues their historic dominance over the Cowgirls. MSU Denver is now 41-2 all-time against NMHU, including a perfect 20-0 at home and 20 consecutive wins overall in the series. The last time Highlands defeated the Roadrunners was all the way back in 1999.
Under Jenny Glenn, MSU Denver has been nearly untouchable in RMAC play — earning 76 league victories and losing just twice across five seasons, all of which resulted in RMAC regular-season championships.
MSU Denver delivered one of its most complete serving performances of the year, finishing with a season-high 13 service aces as a team.
Offensively, the Roadrunners were efficient and balanced, hitting .370 behind a standout performance from Annika Helf, who led all players with 15 kills on .387 hitting along with three aces and 10 digs. Brooke Gennerman added 12 kills on .333 hitting, while Kryssa Moerman chipped in 6 kills on .667 efficiency off the bench.
Setter GabriElle Brewer steered the offense with 24 assists and contributed two aces, while fellow setter Karyna Werley posted 23 assists, six kills, and two aces in one of her most versatile outings of the season. Defensively, libero Mia Accomazzo anchored the floor with 15 digs.
With the win, MSU Denver secures hosting rights for next week's RMAC Tournament, which will take place Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday at the Auraria Event Center.
The Roadrunners now turn their focus toward postseason play as they look to extend their winning streak and begin their pursuit of another RMAC Tournament championship.
