@MSUDenverVB: Roadrunners Capture Ninth RMAC Tournament Title Behind Dominant Sweep of UCCS

DENVER — No. 9 MSU Denver completed its postseason masterpiece Saturday night, sweeping second-seeded UCCS 3–0 (25-18, 25-23, 25-19) to claim the 2025 RMAC Tournament Championship at the Auraria Event Center. The Roadrunners improve to 26-3 overall, while UCCS moves to 26-3 with the loss.

The victory extends MSU Denver's winning streak to 17 straight matches, secures the program's ninth RMAC Tournament title, and marks the third championship in the last four seasons.

It's also the Roadrunners' sixth consecutive RMAC Tournament win and the second straight year they've lifted the trophy. MSU Denver did not drop a single set to UCCS this season (6–0 across two matches).

With the Roadrunners now firmly positioned for an NCAA postseason run, MSU Denver is in strong contention to earn the No. 1 seed in the South Central Region and the right to host NCAA Regionals in two weeks. The full bracket will be revealed during Monday's NCAA Selection Show at 5:30 p.m. MT.

RMAC Defensive Player of the Year Alyssa Boyte was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player after a dominant three-match performance in which she logged 20 total blocks and 18 kills. Against UCCS, she added four kills, four block assists, and one solo stuff while helping hold the Mountain Lions to a .103 hitting percentage.

MSU Denver's attack remained balanced and efficient thanks to three All-Tournament honorees:

  • Annika Helf again paced the offense, posting 10 kills — her third straight match leading the team — while adding three blocks and nine digs.
  • Karyna Werley delivered another standout all-around performance with 8 kills, 20 assists, 5 digs, 3 block assists, and 2 service aces.
  • Brooke Gennerman continued her breakout postseason with 9 kills on .261 hitting, capping a tournament in which she totaled 30 kills.

Setter GabriElle Brewer added 18 assists and a service ace, while libero Mia Accomazzo anchored the defense with 13 digs.
