@MSUDenverMBB: Red and Blue Fall to Eastern New Mexico

PUEBLO, Colo. — MSU Denver opened its final nonconference weekend with a competitive start but ultimately fell 78–65 to Eastern New Mexico on Friday afternoon. With the loss, the Roadrunners move to 1–4 overall while the Greyhounds improve to 4–1.

MSU Denver came out attacking offensively, matching ENMU shot for shot in the early minutes before the Greyhounds put together a decisive run midway through the first half. After Logan Threatt's layup cut the deficit to 10–27 with 10:31 remaining, the Roadrunners mounted a surge behind three straight 3-pointers, trimming the margin to single digits at 21–29 at the 6:00 mark. But Eastern New Mexico responded immediately and rebuilt its lead, taking a 47–34 advantage into halftime.

The Roadrunners played an even second half — both teams scoring 31 points — but were unable to string together enough stops to close the gap, as ENMU's size and paint presence created challenges throughout the afternoon.

  • Logan Threatt led MSU Denver with 16 points, going a perfect 5-for-5 from the free-throw line while adding five assists and three rebounds.
  • Quave Propst-Allison knocked down four 3-pointers, finishing with 13 points, two assists, and two steals.
  • Garrett Falls added 9 points, three rebounds, and an assist, shooting 2-for-5 from beyond the arc.
  • Brian Unachukwu provided strong interior play with 7 points, a team-high 6 rebounds, and a blocked shot.
  • Freshman Daniel Thomason contributed 4 points, 5 rebounds, and a block in 16 minutes.
  • Amare Bethel, Adam Hackett, and Nathan Francis each added scoring support off the bench.
  • As a team, MSU Denver collected 36 rebounds, produced 18 points off turnovers, and received 16 points from the bench.

Eastern New Mexico used its frontcourt advantage — particularly a dominant 15-point, 15-rebound effort from Jose Murillo — to control the interior, outscoring MSU Denver 54–24 in the paint.

MSU Denver will look to rebound quickly as it returns to action Saturday at 2:30 p.m. against Texas Permian Basin.
