Quave Propst-Allison scored a career-high 32 points to lead the men's basketball team to the 81-70 win over Westminster University.
The win improved the Roadrunners record to 3-7 overall and 2-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Griffins fall to 6-4 on the season, while now standing at 1-3 in the RMAC.
Propst-Allison connected on 11-of-15 from the field, including 3-of-6 from 3pt land. He was perfect from the free throw line (7-fo-7) and added four rebounds to his stat sheet. His previous high came earlier this season when he piled in 22 points against Texas A&M International.
Colin Hayes led Westminster, scoring 17 points and hitting on five from beyond the arc.
The Roadrunners led at the break 37-28 thanks to shooting 43 percent from the field while holding the Griffins to just a 34 percent clip.
While Westminster turned up the offense in the second frame shooting 46 percent, MSU Denver got hot from the field and connected on 51 percent.
Boston Painter hit a jumper to get to within one of the Roadrunners with 7:37 left in the game. But the road team went on a 20-11 run with 12 of those coming from Propst-Allison.
Logan Threatt helped on the offensive side of things reaching 23 points and converting 8-of-10 from the free throw line. It is the second time this season the junior guard has reached 20 or more points.
MSU Denver won the rebounding battle 35-26 and outscored the Griffins 34-22 in the paint.
The men's basketball team will return home to the Auraria Event Center for some non-conference action. They'll first welcome in Fort Hays State next Thursday night before taking on Nebraska-Kearney two nights later.
