DENVER — MSU Denver women's basketball battled throughout a tightly contested Sunday afternoon matchup at the Auraria Event Center but ultimately fell 77–67 to Adams State. The Roadrunners move to 2–6 overall and 1–1 in RMAC play, while the Grizzlies improved to 7–3, 2–0 RMAC.
The game flowed with momentum swings on both ends, but MSU Denver spent much of the afternoon trying to claw back from an early deficit. After trailing 37–24 at halftime, the Roadrunners put together their strongest stretch in the third quarter — shooting 61.5% from the field to trim the margin to single digits and build needed offensive rhythm. MSU Denver continued to surge in the fourth, scoring 25 points, their highest-scoring quarter of the day, but Adams State countered each push with timely answers to keep the
Roadrunners just out of striking distance.
Despite the setback, MSU Denver showcased improved balance, finishing with four players in double figures.
- Nevaeh Millard led the charge with 14 points, including a pair of key 3-pointers that fueled the second-half rally.
- Madison Johnson and Maggie Teven each added 11 points, with Teven also hauling in 9 rebounds.
- Mikylah Espinosa turned in another steady outing with 10 points, 5 assists, and 5 rebounds.
The frontcourt again leaned on Brianna Sealy, who followed Friday's double-double with 9 points and 11 rebounds, marking her second straight game with double-digit boards. Jadyn Watts anchored the defensive glass with 8 rebounds and added 6 points at the free throw line.
MSU Denver showed strong interior presence, matching Adams State with 38 points in the paint and securing 45 total rebounds, but 20 turnovers proved too costly in the tightest moments.
The Roadrunners now turn the page quickly as they prepare for a short trip across town to face Division I University of Denver on Tuesday evening, looking to regroup and regain momentum before returning to RMAC play.
