Key points:
Turnovers Fouls
Bench points
Â
MSU Denver turnover issues, which had been under control of late, finally broke free as the team committed 17 in the ball game. Fort Lewis is arguably the best defensive team in the RMAC as they force opponents to commit 20 turnovers a game.
Â
Bench depth, which has been preached as a strength all season, has struggled to find itself offensively the last few games, and tonight was no different as the Roadrunners were outscored 33-20 in that column as Cassius Carmichael led all scorers off the pine with 18.
Â
At halftime Coach
Dan Ficke said the team has to defend better and play with a hand up while staying aggressive. However the lackadaisical defense from the first carried into the second as the Roadrunners sent the Skyhawks to the line 18 times in the 2nd half.
Â
Offensively, MSU Denver struggled from the field with 42% shooting but were efficient in getting to the free throw line as the team made 19-23. However, it wasn't enough as Fort Lewis' constant pressure proved too much to handle.
