DENVER - MSU Denver had another tough night offensively as Colorado School of Mines secured a 70-53 victory Tuesday night.
 
The Roadrunners had difficulty keeping pace early, scoring just 17 points in the first half as the Orediggers built a commanding lead. Colorado School of Mines controlled the game from the opening tip, using a strong defensive effort to hold MSU Denver to 29.6% shooting from the field.
 
Nevaeh Millard led the Roadrunners with 17 points, knocking down three three-pointers and converting all four of her free-throw attempts. Mariana Silva Pereira added eight points and a team-high five assists, while Brooklynn Jones and Ashlyn Yow contributed eight points of their own. Despite the loss, MSU Denver showed resilience in the second half, but the early deficit proved too large to overcome.
 
Emma Sixta was the star for the Orediggers, tallying a game-high 21 points on 9-of-12 shooting while also contributing three assists and three steals. Peyton Freiermuth added 14 points and seven rebounds, and Jenna Siebert chipped in with 12 points as Mines shot an efficient 48.2% from the field.
 
Colorado School of Mines dominated in the paint, outscoring MSU Denver 30-18, while also taking advantage of turnovers, converting 16 points off of Roadrunners' mistakes. The visitors also had a strong showing from their bench, with Jessica Rios providing a spark, scoring 13 points in 19 minutes.
 
MSU Denver (6-19 overall, 5-12 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) will play on the road for their three remaining games of the season, starting on Saturday, February 22 when the Roadrunners will travel just ten minutes up the road to Regis.
