ALAMOSA, Colo -- The Roadrunners used great pitching in game one of the 6-2 win, while the offense picked things up in the 16-2 game two victory.
The Roadrunners improved to 12-6 overall with a 7-2 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference. The Grizzlies fell 3-17 overall and 1-9 in conference play.
In game one,
Natalie Romero once again shined from the circle fanning seven Grizzlies in seven innings of work. She gave up just two runs on four hits while picking up her fifth win on the season.
MSU Denver jumped on the scoreboard first in the first inning.
Adriana Bueno brought home
Jaiden Geist on an RBI single.
The Grizzlies would tie things up at 1-1 in their half of the first, but Geist would drive in three over the next two innings to put her squad up 4-1 in the fifth inning. Bueno and
Miki Berg also added RBI in the fifth inning to give the Roadrunners the 6-2 lead and eventual final score.
Game two featured an offensive explosion, as MSU Denver scored a season-high 16 runs on 22 hits. Seven different players had two more hits, including four from
Katie Maney, who went 4-for-4 with three runs scored.
Jenna Medhus,
Hannah DiFabio and
Brooklyn Enny all came through with three his each. Enny, Medhus, Berg and
Genevieve Bower all drove in three runs apiece.
Medhus earned the win from the circle, going five innings and giving up just three runs and striking out three.
The Roadrunners will be back in action tomorrow with another doubleheader against ASU starting at 11 a.m.
