@MSUDenverWBB: Roadrunners Finish the Season with a Road Loss at CCU

The Roadrunners look to regroup for next year

LAKEWOOD, COLO. - MSU Denver closed out its season with a hard-fought 66-53 loss to Colorado Christian on Saturday afternoon. Despite a strong third-quarter push, the Roadrunners couldn't overcome the Cougars' steady offense and dominant rebounding.

The game started evenly, with both teams locked at 14 after the first quarter. Colorado Christian pulled ahead in the second quarter, outscoring MSU Denver 17-8 to take a nine-point lead at halftime.

MSU Denver responded in the third quarter, shooting 54.5% from the field and hitting six three-pointers to pull within striking distance. Ashlyn Yow led the charge with 13 points, including three three-pointers, while Brooklynn Jones contributed 11 points.

However, Colorado Christian sealed the game in the fourth quarter, fueled by Victoria Perez and Dasiya Jones, who each scored 18 points. The Cougars capitalized on second-chance opportunities, out-rebounding the Roadrunners 45-35 and converting 18 of 21 free throws.

Despite the loss, MSU Denver showed resilience, getting solid contributions from its bench, which accounted for 24 points. Mikylah Espinosa and Mariana Silva Pereira each added eight points in the effort.

The Roadrunners finish the season with a 6-22 record overall and a 5-15 record in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.
