@MSUDenverBSB: Roadrunners Split with Augustana During Sunday Doubleheader

AUGUSTANA, S.D. — The MSU Denver Roadrunners split the Sunday doubleheader with the No. 17-ranked Augustana Vikings, winning the first contest by a score of 7-4, while dropping game two 16-5. Both games were played in seven innings.

The Roadrunners move to 9-12 overall on the year, while the Vikings go to 10-6.

GAME ONE
Nolan Livsey spun a gem for the Roadrunners, earning the win in six innings of work, allowing just one run on three hits while striking out four. With the win, he improves to 4-1 overall on the season.

Velder and Graham accounted for five of the six runs batted in by the Red and Blue, while both recording multi-hit games. Cam Yuran went 1-for-2 with two runs and two walks.

Andrew Graham captured the first three runs batted in by the Roadrunners, with a two-RBI double in the second inning, followed up with an RBI single in the fourth to put his team up 3-1. Cal Walsh added to the lead with an RBI single of his own to bring Graham home.

The Vikings were able to tie the game at four after knocking in three runs in the bottom half of the sixth, but the Roadrunners struck back in the seventh. Jesse Velder came through with a clutch base hit to right field, bringing around Easton Amundson and Erubiel Ortiz for the lead. Velder came around to score later in the inning on a wild pitch to put MSU Denver up by three headed into the final frame.

Carter Swan came in to close the game for the Roadrunners. He would walk two batters and allow a hit, but would get out a bases-loaded jam with a strikeout, earning the save and the win for MSU Denver in game one of the doubleheader.

GAME TWO
Easton Amundson extended his team lead in home runs with a solo shot in the first inning, his 11th of the season to put MSU Denver on top early, but it would be the only time the Roadrunners would hold the lead in this one.

The Vikings would go on to score seven unanswered runs in the next three innings. The Red and Blue would notch just another three hits in the game, two coming from River Jackson. Jackson had an RBI single up the middle in the sixth inning to score the final run for his squad. Augustana totaled 16 runs of offense.

These two will play again in a rubber match tomorrow at 1 p.m. MT.
