@MSUDenverSB: Medhus continues to mash leading squad to series sweep of Eagles

Medhus hit two more home runs on Sunday, including go-ahead grand slam in game one

Chadron, NE --  Jenna Medhus and her heroics helped the Roadrunners complete a four-game sweep of the Eagles on Sunday.

Game One:

Things looked bleak for MSU Denver, who couldn't find the run column in the first six innings against the Eagles in game three of the series. Chadron State's starting pitcher Tori Haug kept the Roadrunners off the scoreboard for most of the day giving up just three hits heading into the seventh inning.

The Eagles jumped ahead in the first inning, as Lauren Zimmerman connected on a two-run home run. After nabbing another run in the fifth, it was a 3-0 game heading into the final inning.

The Roadrunners led the seventh inning off with a single by Alexia boring and a walk by Adriana Bueno, but both Hannah DiFabio and Katie Maney were struck out by Haug and the team was down to their final out.

But Cheyenne Prieto came in to pinch hit and earned a free pass to load the bases. Then Jaiden Geist made it to first on an error by the Eagles shortstop, which allowed Boring to come in to score to cut the lead to within two.

Then Medhus proceeded to smash a go-ahead grand slam to put her team on top for the first time in the game with a score of 5-3. The junior hit two round trippers in game two of the series just one day prior.

Natalie Romero, who came into the game in the fifth inning, would get the final three outs of the game to earn her eighth win on the season and second on the weekend.

Game Two:

MSU Denver used that momentum from game one on Sunday to take game two by a final of 10-1 in six innings.

The Roadrunners scored three runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings to finish with 10 runs on 12 hits.

And guess who led the charge for the Red and Blue? It was Medhus who went 4-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI while jacking her sixth home run on the season and her fourth on the weekend.

Medhus finished the weekend with an astonishing line of 9-for-13, eight runs scored, 11 RBI, four home runs, and a complete game victory from the circle on Saturday.

Prieto also hit a home run in the finale, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and her second long ball of 2025. She also helped her own cause, as the junior went six innings from the circle, giving up just one run on two hits while striking out six Eagles. The win improved her season record to 6-2 on the season.

MSU Denver will next host Nebraska-Kearney for non-conference action this Thursday afternoon with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. mountain time.
