SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The MSU Denver Roadrunners men's and women's tennis team were both in action today for the Pacific West Conference Tournament. The women won their final match of the season 4-0 over Fresno Pacific, while the men were swept 4-0 by Point Loma.
WOMEN
The women's side went out in their final match in program history with a perfect 4-0 sweep.
The duos of
Kim Heddes /
Kambra Roles and
Louise Hosking / Monia Guarin took home the doubles point for the Roadrunners with dominance on courts two and three. Heddes and Roles won 6-1, while Hosking and Guarin won their match 6-0.
Heddes, Hosking, and
Victoria Ricaurte-Cabas were the three points that MSU Denver got in singles play to secure the win.
Including doubles play, Hosking did not lose a single point on the evening, winning her singles play by a score of 6-0, 6-0.
Heddes took home her singles match in two sets, 6-0, 7-5, over Daimy Paula. Ricaurte-Cabas won 6-0, 7-6.
MEN
It was a rough first round for the men, as they were unable to capture a point.
Alejandro Jimenez and
Maximo Lawlor took down Nabeel Khan and Niclas Goltz on court three in doubles play, 6-4. It would be the only win for the Roadrunners in the match.
The Roadrunners didn't go down without a fight, as five of the sixth matches in singles play went a full three sets.
Alessandro Munoz was tied 3-3 in the third set before the match was clinched by Point Loma.
MSU Denver heads to the consolation bracket and will face Biola afternoon for their final match of the season.
