GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. -- The MSU Denver Roadrunners were looking to walk into the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament with a victory over the number one-ranked team in the conference, the Colorado Mesa Mavericks but fell short. 

The Roadrunners lost their last game of the 2025 regular season against the Mavericks by a score of 13-3. 

The Roadrunners are tied for third in the RMAC standings with a record of 30-20 overall and 22-10 in conference play. The Mavericks are first in the RMAC standings with an overall record of 36-11 and 26-4 in conference play. Both teams have clinched an RMAC Tournament berth. 

GAME RECAP 
The Roadrunners struggled to score in the first couple of innings, but they were able to get their first run of the game during the top of the fourth when Andrew Biddle flied out to center field, allowing Royce Vandine to score. 

The first home run of the afternoon was scored in the bottom of the fourth. Cameron Cartwright belted a homer to right field, putting the Mavericks up 6-1. 

The Mavericks gained momentum in the bottom of the sixth after Ethan Nunez hit a home run to left field, allowing Cartwright and Paul Schoenfeld to score, putting the Mavericks up by eight runs. 

The Roadrunners looked to stay in the game. Erubiel Ortiz hit the ball to left center, which also sent Biddle to home plate, cutting the Mavericks' lead down to six. The Mavericks would answer with a home run hit by Max Valdez. 

Ortiz led the Roadrunners with two RBIs on one hit.
