GOLDEN, Colo. — MSU Denver women's basketball put together a statement performance on the road Saturday afternoon against the Colorado School of Mines, securing the victory by a final score of 72–59, improving to 7–11 overall and 5–5 in RMAC play. They knocked off the fifth-ranked team in the RMAC with a complete 40-minute effort highlighted by dominant first and fourth quarters.
MSU Denver came out aggressive from the opening tip, setting the tone early with strong defensive pressure and efficient offense in the first quarter. The Roadrunners built an early cushion by attacking the paint, forcing turnovers, and controlling the glass, allowing them to play from in front for much of the afternoon.
After the game tightened through the middle quarters, MSU Denver delivered its best stretch of basketball in the fourth quarter, pulling away with timely stops and clutch scoring. The Roadrunners closed the game with disciplined defense and smart shot selection down the stretch.
Mikylah Espinosa led the way with an all-around performance, scoring 20 points while adding six rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Espinosa controlled the tempo on both ends and came up with key plays when MSU Denver needed separation late.
Nevaeh Millard continued her strong scoring run with 19 points, providing consistent offense throughout the game. Inside, the Roadrunners dominated the boards, led by Jadyn Watts and Brianna Sealy, who each pulled down 10 rebounds. Sealy completed a double-double, anchoring the interior and giving MSU Denver a physical edge in the paint.
With balanced scoring, rebounding control, and standout performances in the opening and closing quarters, MSU Denver earned a crucial road win over the Orediggers.
