@MSUDenverWBB: Explosive Fourth Quarter Propels Roadrunners Over Skyhawks

DURANGO, Colo. — The MSU Denver women's basketball team put together a dominant fourth-quarter performance to earn a 76-66 road victory over Fort Lewis on Saturday afternoon at Whalen Gymnasium, extending its winning streak to four straight games.

With the win, the Roadrunners improve to 9-11 overall and 7-5 in RMAC play, climbing past Fort Lewis in the conference standings after the Skyhawks fell to 6-6 in league action.

The game was tightly contested through the first three quarters, featuring multiple lead changes and neither side able to create separation.

Fort Lewis carried a slim 48-46 edge into the final period, but MSU Denver flipped the script in the fourth. The Roadrunners erupted for 30 points over the final 10 minutes, shooting efficiently from the field and capitalizing at the free-throw line to pull away late.

Mikylah Espinosa once again led the charge for MSU Denver, finishing with a game-high 24 points. Espinosa was flawless at the free-throw line, going 9-for-9, and added a team-high four steals along with two rebounds and two assists. Her scoring and poise in the final quarter helped fuel the Roadrunners' decisive run.

Keira Mitchell anchored the defense, posting a dominant all-around performance with eight rebounds and an impressive five blocks, consistently protecting the paint and altering shots down the stretch.

MSU Denver also showcased its depth, with eight different Roadrunners finding their way into the scoring column. That balanced effort, paired with a lockdown defensive stand in the fourth quarter, proved to be the difference as the Roadrunners outscored Fort Lewis 30-18 in the final frame to seal the conference road win.

The victory continues MSU Denver's momentum as it moves up the RMAC standings, using a strong finish on both ends of the floor to take down a conference foe on its home court.
