DENVER — The Roadrunners celebrated Senior Day in style Saturday afternoon, extending their winning streak to five games with an impressive 78-59 conference victory over Colorado Christian to improve to 14-12 overall and 12-6 in RMAC play.
With the win, MSU Denver clinches a berth in the RMAC Tournament and continues to build momentum down the stretch, fueled by balanced scoring, stifling defense and a dominant fourth quarter performance.
Five different Roadrunners finished in double figures, led by senior Mikylah Espinosa, who lead the offense in points (17), assists (6) and rebounds (7) on the day. She knocked down three of her six attempts from beyond the arc and once again controlled the tempo on the offensive end.
Keira Mitchell made her presence felt all over the floor, totaling eight points while tying for the team lead with seven rebounds and recording a team-high five blocks along with two steals. Mitchell continues to anchor the defense and leads the RMAC in blocks this season, averaging an incredible 3.3 swats per game.
MSU Denver used a strong second quarter to seize momentum before delivering the knockout punch in the fourth. The Roadrunners were nearly flawless in the final period, shooting a staggering 10-of-11 from the field to put the game out of reach. On the defensive end, they held Colorado Christian to just 30 percent shooting overall, limiting quality looks and forcing tough possessions throughout the afternoon.
Brianna Sealy and Jadyn Watts each added 11 points, while Brooklynn Jones and Nevaeh Millard chipped in 10 points apiece to round out the balanced attack. The collective effort underscored the team-first mentality that has defined this recent surge as MSU Denver continues its climb in the RMAC standings.
