@MSUDenverSB: Roadrunners Complete Series Sweep over Adams State

DENVER — MSU Denver softball continues their strong run in conference play Sunday, now 14-6 overall and 9-3 in RMAC play.

The Roadrunners completed their second doubleheader sweep against the Adams State Grizzlies and extended their win streak to 26 games in the series that dates back to 2018.

They carried their momentum into the second day of play and had timely hitting and a lineup that produced throughout the order. The Red and Blue only had one inning Sunday where they were held scoreless.

Game One: MSU Denver 14, Adams State 4 (5 inn.)

MSU Denver wasted no time setting the tone in the opener as freshman Victoria Pearson blasted her first career home run to lead off the game for the Roadrunners.

The offense stayed hot throughout the matchup, producing the most hits in a game this season with 21, while consistently applying pressure on the Grizzlies' pitching.

Senior Cheyenne Prieto continued her strong season at the plate, extending her streak, recording at least one hit in all but one game this season. She currently leads the RMAC in batting average with a .611 clip.

Adams State responded in the fourth inning, stringing together a few extra-base hits to score four runs and briefly cut into the momentum. However, the Roadrunners answered right back when Trinity Kennemer launched her first home run as a Roadrunner to right-center field, restoring MSU Denver's comfortable lead.

The game ended in the fifth inning when Carson Milam crushed her first collegiate home run in the red and blue. A three-run walk-off blast to center field brought in Mackenzie Pearson and Neila Fee, resulting in a run-rule victory for the Roadrunners.

Game Two: MSU Denver 9, Adams State 1 (5 inn.)

Building off their dominant performance in the opener, the MSU Denver Roadrunners took control of the second matchup against the Grizzlies, using an early offensive surge to power their way to a 9–1 victory and complete the doubleheader sweep.

The Roadrunners set the tone in the bottom of the first inning. Victoria Pearson continued her strong eye offensively, earning a walk to get on base to lead things off. Brooklyn Enny stepped up to the plate and delivered another big swing for MSU Denver, launching a two-run home run to left field to give the Roadrunners an early lead. The offense kept rolling as Kassidy Juarez later ripped a two-run single, pushing the advantage to 4–0 by the end of the first frame.

MSU Denver continued to build on that strong start in the second. Lexi Gephart sparked the inning with a double, and the Roadrunners capitalized on defensive miscommunication by Adams State to keep the rally alive. Neila Lucero drove in a run before Trinity Kennemer lined a two-run double to right center, stretching the lead to 8–0.

The Roadrunners added another run in the third inning when Victoria Pearson delivered a double down the left-field line to put herself in scoring position. After advancing on the play, Pearson came around to score when Natalie Shellhorn reached on a throwing error by the Adams State third baseman, extending MSU Denver's lead to 9–0 and continuing the pressure on the Grizzlies' defense.

Adams State found a run in the fourth inning, but Kianna Butler remained composed in the circle. The right-hander surrendered seven hits across five innings while limiting the damage to just one run and striking out four to secure the win for MSU Denver.

Behind Enny's sixth home run of the season and a balanced offensive effort throughout the lineup, the Roadrunners once again showcased their depth at the plate, closing out the afternoon now with a 14-6 overall record and 9-3 in the conference.

MSU Denver will head to Golden on Saturday (12pm/ 2pm) and Sunday (11am/1 pm) to face Colorado school of Mines for the second time this season.
