BIG RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 3-ranked MSU Denver volleyball team opened the 2026 season Thursday evening with a 3-0 loss to No. 10 Ferris State at Bulldog Arena. The Roadrunners (0-1) fell to the Bulldogs by set scores of 25-15, 25-19 and 25-15.
Brooke Gennerman led MSU Denver with nine kills and hit .250, while also recording one of the Roadrunners' two service aces. Kahlia Maiava recorded the other service along with one kill and four assists.
Newcomers Mayah Pridgett and Hayden Liebsack each recorded four kills in their Roadrunner debuts, while Kamdyn Scott finished with five kills in her first match for MSU Denver. Megan Hagar also had four kills and led the Roadrunners with seven digs.
Setter GabriElle Brewer recorded 20 assists in her MSU Denver debut.
Ferris State (1-0), which entered the match ranked No. 10 nationally, hit .382 for the match while holding MSU Denver to a .144 attack percentage.
The Roadrunners will look to bounce back Friday with two matches, facing Purdue Northwest at 11:30 a.m. before taking on Minnesota State at 3:30 p.m.
