DENVER – MSU Denver women's soccer dropped a 2-0 decision to Colorado Mesa on Sunday afternoon at the Assembly Athletic Complex, falling to 1-3-4 overall and 0-1-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.
Colorado Mesa (4-2-0, 2-0-0 RMAC) struck first in the 13th minute when Angelina Kazinec finished a pass from Jenelle Arenibas to give the Mavericks an early 1-0 advantage.
The Roadrunners kept the deficit at one heading into halftime, with goalkeeper Morgan Shirley providing a strong presence in net. Shirley finished with three saves on five Colorado Mesa shots on target.
Colorado Mesa added to its lead in the 72nd minute when Olivia Bariao-Arce scored off an assist from Savanah Miller, pushing the Mavericks' advantage to 2-0.
The Roadrunners were unable to generate an offensive shot throughout the match, while Colorado Mesa finished with 10 shots and held a 6-0 advantage in corner kicks.
MSU Denver will now hit the road for four consecutive matches, beginning with its next RMAC contest.
