COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — MSU Denver women's soccer dropped a 4-0 decision to UCCS on Sunday afternoon at Mountain Lion Stadium, with the Mountain Lions scoring three times in the opening half.
The Roadrunners fell to 2-4-4 overall and 1-2-1 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play following the loss.
UCCS opened the scoring in the sixth minute when Luka Johnson converted a chance assisted by Elise Broberg. Broberg then doubled the Mountain Lions' advantage in the 36th minute before Brooke Pavlich added another goal less than three minutes later to send UCCS into halftime with a 3-0 lead.
MSU Denver was unable to generate much offensive momentum throughout the afternoon, recording one shot compared to 23 for UCCS. The Roadrunners' lone shot came from Cassidy Gottesman in the 77th minute and was saved by UCCS goalkeeper Lilliana Brinkmeier.
Morgan Shirley made four saves across 59:30 in goal before Mariah Fletemeyer took over for the final 30 minutes and recorded one save. The two combined for five saves on UCCS' nine shots on goal.
UCCS added its fourth goal in the 85th minute when Sophia Broberg scored off an assist from Mattea Morris, completing the afternoon's scoring.
The Roadrunners will look to bounce back Friday when they return to the road for an RMAC matchup against CSU Pueblo. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Pueblo.
