DENVER – The No. 7 MSU Denver volleyball team wrapped up the Colorado Premier Challenge with a pair of hard-fought losses Saturday at the Auraria Event Center, falling 3-2 to No. 4 Concordia-St. Paul in a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championship before dropping a 3-1 decision to Central Missouri later in the afternoon.
The Roadrunners finished the Colorado Premier Challenge with a 1-3 record and will now look to conference play starting next week.
GAME ONE
The morning opened with a five-set thriller against Concordia-St. Paul, with the Roadrunners ultimately falling 15-25, 25-19, 25-11, 24-26, 15-13.
MSU Denver came out firing, taking the opening set behind an explosive .455 team hitting percentage. The Golden Bears responded by taking the next two sets, but the Roadrunners refused to go quietly.
Facing match point in the fourth set, MSU Denver battled back to win 26-24 and force a decisive fifth set. The Roadrunners held a 13-11 lead in the final frame before Concordia-St. Paul scored the final four points to escape with the victory.
Sophomore outside hitter Brooke Gennerman continued her torrid start to the season, leading all players with a career-high 24 kills while hitting .286. She added 11 digs, four block assists and two service aces.
Gennerman's 24 kills were the most by a Roadrunner since Annika Helf recorded 30 kills against Wayne State at the 2025 Colorado Premier Challenge.
Setter GabriElle Brewer also turned in a career performance, recording a career-high 50 assists — the most by an MSU Denver setter in a decade. The last Roadrunner setter to reach 50 assists was MSU Denver Hall of Famer Brandi Torr, who finished with 59 assists against Arkansas-Fort Smith on Sept. 10, 2016. Brewer also added three total blocks and three kills.
Kami Scott added 12 kills and two block assists, while Mayah Pridgett finished with seven kills and led the Roadrunners with a .412 hitting percentage. Hayden Liebsack contributed nine kills, 12 digs and two service aces.
GAME TWO
MSU Denver returned to the court Saturday afternoon against Central Missouri, taking the opening set 25-17 before the Jennies rallied to win the next three, 25-21, 25-23, 25-17.
The Roadrunners battled throughout the middle sets, including a tight third frame in which Central Missouri pulled away late after MSU Denver had remained within striking distance.
Liebsack delivered one of her best offensive performances of the season, posting a career-high 16 kills while adding 14 digs for a double-double. Mia Accomazzo anchored the defensive effort with a team-high 20 digs.
Gennerman added 11 kills and 11 digs for her second double-double of the day, while Scott chipped in seven kills and Trynity Martin recorded eight kills while hitting .400.
Gennerman's standout weekend earned her a spot on the Colorado Premier Challenge All-Tournament Team, capping a memorable weekend for the reigning RMAC Offensive Player of the Week.
The sophomore led the Roadrunners offensively throughout the tournament and continued to establish herself as one of the team's primary offensive weapons early in the 2026 season.
MSU Denver now turns its attention to the remainder of the 2026 season after the conclusion of the Colorado Premier Challenge.
