Jose Diaz joins the MSU Denver baseball staff as an assistant coach for the 2026 season, bringing more than four decades of playing, coaching, and player development experience to the Roadrunners program.

Diaz is a highly respected baseball instructor and coach who has worked across nearly every level of the game, including varsity high school, elite travel baseball, college summer teams, and developmental leagues in both the United States and Puerto Rico. Most recently, he served as the Head of High School and Coaching Development/Recruiting for Gameday Baseball, where he also led the organization’s top 18U travel team. Since 2019, Diaz has compiled a 210-93-11 record while helping more than 100 student-athletes advance to play collegiate baseball at the Division I, Division II, junior college, and professional levels.

Prior to his time at Gameday, Diaz was the head coach at Castle View High School from 2015–19, where he rebuilt the program from the ground up. Under his leadership, Castle View improved from a three-win season to back-to-back playoff appearances for the first time in school history, climbed as high as No. 10 in the state rankings, and sent 15 players on to collegiate careers. His teams were known for dramatic improvements in hitting, defense, and pitching development, as well as strong academic and character standards.

Diaz has also worked alongside professional coaches and players at the major and minor league levels, gaining extensive experience in player evaluation, arm care, skill progression, and practice design. Known for his ability to maximize player development while fostering accountability and discipline, Diaz brings a proven track record of success and mentorship to the Roadrunners as he begins his first season with MSU Denver in 2026.
