Marc Mumper

Marc Mumper

Marc Mumper joined the MSU Denver baseball program as an assistant coach in August 2019.

He came to the Roadrunners after completing his playing career at NCAA Division I Grand Canyon, where he was a three-year starter and hit .269 with a .395 on-base percentage as a senior. The Antelopes won back-to-back Western Athletic Conference championships in 2017 and 2018.

Mumper, a Colorado native and former 37th-round pick in the 2015 MLB draft by the Colorado Rockies, works with team’s infielders, as well as assisting with hitting and baserunning. 
Primarily a shortstop, Mumper posted a strong career .955 fielding percentage at Grand Canyon, committing just three errors while fielding at a .972 clip as a senior.

Mumper’s father, Dave, coached high school baseball in Colorado for 32 years, and is in the Colorado Dugout Club Hall of Fame.

Prior to joining MSU Denver, Mumper worked as an assistant coach with the Canyon Thunder baseball organization in Arizona.

Mumper graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication and is pursuing a master’s degree in educational psychology from Missouri.

During his three-year varsity career at Mountain Vista High School in Highlands Ranch, Colo., Mumper hit .333 with a .427 on-base percentage. As a senior, Mumper was named a first team all-state player, hitting .356 with 11 extra-base hits. Mumper also pitched in 24 games, going 5-4 while posting a 3.06 ERA, including a 2.17 ERA in his senior year.
