2020: Hadn't pitched, and was just rounding into form at the plate, when the COVID-19 pandemic ended the 2020 season early. ... Rapped three doubles. ... Hit a three-run double to tie the game 6-6, then scored the go-ahead run in a 10-8 win over CSU-Pueblo on March 7 in the first game of a doubleheader. ... He also tied for third with five wins in league play...For the season, had a team-leading 3.49 ERA (11th-best single-season ERA in MSU Denver history) on the mound with a 5-2 record and 54 strikeouts in 49 innings, include an MSU Denver record 14 in a game. His rate of 9.9 strikeouts per nine innings is the second best in a season in MSU Denver history. ... Appeared in nine games as a pitcher, making eight starts and recording one complete game...At the plate, hit .318 with five homers, 24 RBIs, seven doubles, three triples, and six stolen bases...Struck out an MSU Denver single-game record 14 in eight innings of work, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks, against Colorado School of Mines on May 9, but was the tough-luck loser in a 7-5 setback in the first round of the RMAC Tournament. Before MSU Denver: Played two minor-league seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system after being selected in the 23rd round of the 2015 draft...Hit .261 with 10 RBIs in 138 at-bats for the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona League team in 2015, then hit .204 in 98 at-bats for Missoula (Mont.) of the rookie-level Pioneer League in 2016...Released during spring training in 2017, he was eligible to play college baseball at the Division II level or lower through NCAA rules that include having not hired an agent...Before signing a pro contract, he was originally recruited to Division I Southern Illinois by current MSU Denver coach Ryan Strain, who was the Salukis' hitting coach at the time.
High School: Played for Monarch High School in Louisville, Colo., batting .518 with two homers, 22 RBIs, six doubles, three triples, 15 stolen bases and 18 runs as a senior in 2015, when he also went 6-1 with an 0.77 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 45 2/3 innings on the mound...Batted .419 with three homers, 14 RBIs, two doubles and 19 runs as a junior, when he was also 2-3 with a 2.81 ERA and 57 strikeouts in 32 /13 innings as a pitcher...Hit .316 as a sophomore and .321 as a freshman...For his four-year career he batting .394 (91-for-231) with seven homers and 59 RBIs in 74 games, with 12 doubles and five triples as well as 27 stolen bases....Had a 1.408 OPS as a senior, with a .569 on-base percentage and .839 slugging percentage...As a pitcher for his career he was 11-6 with a 1.93 ERA and 172 strikeouts in 116 innings...Was high school teammate of future MSU Denver teammate Matt Malkin as a sophomore and junior...Coached by Scott Weiss.
