He also tied for third with five wins in league play...For the season, had a team-leading 3.49 ERA (11th-best single-season ERA in MSU Denver history) on the mound with a 5-2 record and 54 strikeouts in 49 innings, include an MSU Denver record 14 in a game. Before MSU Denver: Played two minor-league seasons in the Arizona Diamondbacks farm system after being selected in the 23rd round of the 2015 draft...Hit .261 with 10 RBIs in 138 at-bats for the Diamondbacks' rookie-level Arizona League team in 2015, then hit .204 in 98 at-bats for Missoula (Mont.) of the rookie-level Pioneer League in 2016...Released during spring training in 2017, he was eligible to play college baseball at the Division II level or lower through NCAA rules that include having not hired an agent...Before signing a pro contract, he was originally recruited to Division I Southern Illinois by current MSU Denver coach Ryan Strain, who was the Salukis' hitting coach at the time.
