Before Metro State: Played two seasons at Colorado State University, Pueblo ... as a sophomore played in 10 games and posted three hits on nine at bats ... as a freshman he pitched in eight games and 13.0 innings, allowing 25 hits and 15 earned runs.

High School: 2005 graduate of East High School ... four-year letterwinner ... was named East High's Male Athlete of the Year as a 2005 senior ... two-time all-conference selection.

Personal: Born June 9, 1986 to Wayne Marfitano and Gloria Penrod ... has one sister, Brooke Penrod ... majoring in human performance and sport at Metro State.
