Stephanie Duncan

Stephanie Duncan was promoted to assistant athletic director for sports performance/head athletic trainer in July of 2019.

Duncan reports to the director of athletics and is responsible for oversight of the Sports Performance Program, as well as for ensuring the overall mental, physical, and emotional health and wellness of a diverse population of student-athletes at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She is also responsible for the mentorship and supervision of the athletic training staff and the head strength and conditioning coach. She serves on the senior leadership team and participates in the development and coordination of programs, policies, and procedures for all sports.

Her responsibilities include providing oversight to the athletic training and strength and conditioning program for 16 varsity sports. Additional responsibilities include teaching in the Human Performance and Sport Department, administering prevention and care of injuries, providing practice and game coverage, record keeping, supervision of student trainers, ordering supplies, and some travel responsibilities.

Duncan has been the head athletic trainer at MSU Denver since 2011, and she is the primary athletic trainer for men's basketball and women's golf.

She came to MSU Denver from Colorado School of Mines, where she was an assistant athletic trainer from 2007-2011.
 
Duncan, then Stephanie Begley, completed her undergraduate degree in athletic training from Loras (Iowa) in 2005. During her time at Loras, Begley played basketball for the Duhawks and was a three-time dean’s list selection from 2003 through 2005. She also earned a master’s degree in sports psychology from Minnesota State-Mankato in 2007.
