Biography

2007 OUTDOOR: Won the 10,000 meters to earn Metro State's first individual RMAC title with a time of 32:56.59 at the conference championship...Ranked sixth in the conference in the 10,000 meters...Finished 10th in the 5000 meters at the Tom Benich Classic...Ran a time of 16:13.80 to finish 11th in the 5000 meters at the Jack Christiansen Invitational.

2007 INDOOR: Finished eighth in the 3000 meters at the Air Force Invitational, running a time of 9:45.54...Ran 16:43.78 to finish 15th in the 5000 meters at the RMAC Championship...Placed seventh in the 800 meters at the season-opening Potts Invitational.

2006 CROSS COUNTRY: Named to the RMAC all-Academic team as a 2006 junior...Finished as the Roadrunners' second runner in three meets, including a 25th overall finish at the RMAC Championship, where he ran a time of 26:32.70...Ran 32:31.2 to finish 30th at the NCAA North Central Regional...Ran a time of 27:28.75 to finish the 8K Woody Greeno Invitational 38th overall...Finished the season-opening Wyoming Invitational 28th overall in a time of 23:25.

2005: Ran in four meets as a 2005 sophomore...Was the top finisher and placed 19th overall at the University of Colorado Time Trial, running the 8K race in 27:52...Ran a time of 29:56 and finished second for the Roadrunners and 34th overall at the 10,000-meter RMAC Championship...Ran a time of 35:10 to finish 67th overall at the North Central Region Championship, helping Metro State to a ninth-place finish...Placed 92nd out of 319 runners at the Woody Greeno Invitational, running 27:34.

FAIRVIEW HIGH: Ran two years of track and field and one year of cross country at Fairview High School, from which he graduated from in 2003.

PERSONAL: Born May 13, 1985, to Rick and Helene Young...Has a sister, Rochelle...Enjoys cooking, biking and hiking in his spare time...Majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry at Metro State and wants to become a physician's assistant after graduation.
