  • Title
    Assistant Coach
Porter Emery returned to the MSU Denver program as an assistant coach in August, 2020.

In 2021-22, the Roadrunners' men's team was the top-ranked team that didn't make the field for the NCAA Division II West Regional after going 14-5 overall. The MSU Denver women were hit with multiple late-season injuries that derailed their postseason hopes, yet still finished a solid 12-10.

He helped the Roadrunners' women's team to fifth place and the men to seventh at the Pacific West Conference Tournament in MSU Denver's first season in the league as an affiliate member.

Emery had been tennis professional at Lifetime Tennis in Centennial, Colo., since 2016. Previously, he had been a sales representative with Game Set Match, Inc., in addition to serving as an assistant tennis pro at Arapahoe Tennis Club (2015-16) and the Wyoming Athletic Club (2013-15). He was a tennis assistant coach at Natrona County (Wyo.) High School from 2011-15 while also working as an assistant tennis pro at the Casper (Wyo.) Country Club.

A 2009 graduate of Natrona County, he was a two-time all-state and three-time all-conference selection. He attended Ventura (Calif.) College and eventually embarked on a two-year playing career at MSU Denver in 2014, playing as high as No. 2 singles and No. 1 doubles in the Roadrunners' lineups.

He compiled a 13-20 record in singles play and a 12-11 mark in doubles.
