2015 RMAC pitcher of the week (Feb. 17, March 17)

2015: Put together arguably the best freshman campaign for a pitcher in school history ... finished 5-6 with a 4.39 ERA, two complete games, 67.2 innings, 74 strikeouts and just 61 hits allowed ... opponents batted just .241 against him ... finished with the fifth-most strikeouts in a season in school history and third in strikeouts per nine innings (9.84), both records for a freshman ... led the RMAC in fewest hits allowed per nine innings (8.11) and was second in strikeouts per nine innings and fourth in total strikeouts ... ranked 74th in NCAA Division II in strikeouts per nine innings, 89th in total strikeouts and 167th in fewest hits allowed per nine innings ... had eight games with five or more strikeouts ... helped the team break the school record for strikeouts per nine innings ... took a no-hitter into the seventh inning in his first career start and earned the win, allowing two hits and two runs with four strikeouts in seven innings against Nebraska-Kearney on Jan. 31 ... struck out nine in six shutout innings, scattering four hits to beat Sioux Falls on Feb. 15 ... named RMAC pitcher of the week on Feb. 17 ... threw a one-hitter, allowing one unearned run with nine strikeouts and zero walks in a seven-inning complete game to beat Colorado Christian in Game 2 on March 14 ... named RMAC pitcher of the week on March 17 ... struck out a season-high 10 batters and allowed one earned run and five hits in six innings at Regis University on March 28 ... picked up a win by allowing just one run and six hits in a seven-inning complete game in Game 2 to give the Roadrunners a four-game sweep over New Mexico Highlands on April 4 ... struck out eight and allowed two runs in six innings to beat Adams State in Game 2 on April 11 ... scattered three hits and one run in seven innings with five strikeouts against No. 3/2 Colorado Mesa in the third round of the RMAC Tournament on May 9.

2014: Redshirted as a true freshman.

High School: 2013 graduate of Fossil Ridge High School ... coached by Mark Findley ... named all-state as a pitcher ... named first team all-conference as an outfielder and second team all-conference as a pitcher ... posted a 1.67 ERA with 56 strikeouts in 32 innings and batted .510 with 16 RBIs, six doubles, five triples and three home runs as a senior.

Summer Team: Played for Denver Titans ... coached by Robert Bales.

Personal: Born Julian Robert Garcia on May 13, 1995 ... son of Joe Garcia and Patricia Rizigliano ... has two siblings Joseph and Brittany...majoring in human performance and sportand a minor in marketing.
