Colin Lyons

    Assistant Coach
Colin Lyons joined MSU Denver as an assistant coach for cross country and track & field in August, 2022.

His primary role is mental training for the Roadrunners' cross country and track & field athletes.

Lyons is the owner and head mental performance consultant at Optimum Mental Performance training and is the co-founder and co-head coach of the Pine Cliff Track Club.

Prior to MSU Denver, he also was the co-head cross country coach at Castle View High School for two seasons, and he served as a graduate assistant cross country coach at Regis in 2019. From 2016-19 he was the track & field head coach at Elizabeth High School, where he also was a cross country assistant from 2014-19, a track assistant in 2015 and a volunteer assistant for track in 2014.

He was also a cross country assistant at Lesley (Mass.) in 2009.

Lyons competed in indoor and outdoor track & field as well as cross country at Vermont, and was the team captain for all three sports for the 2008-09 academic year.

Lyons earned bachelor's degrees in anthropology and history from Vermont in 2009, a secondary education certificate in social studies from MSU Denver in 2017, and earned a master's in applied sports psychology from Adams State in 2020.
