Josh Stewart joined the MSU Denver cross country and track & field coaching staff in the fall of 2020. Among his duties include assisting with the conditioning, training and performance of the cross country and distance runners.
Prior to joining the Roadrunners, Stewart spent two years as a cross country and track assistant at NCAA Division III Johnson & Wales (Colo.) for two years, where his duties included developing and executing a recruiting strategy, monitoring the team budget, and coordinating team operations and travel. He was named the 2019-20 Johnson & Wales coach of the year, oversaw 11 individual program records in the distance and middle distance events, coaches four all-conference performers and helped the team to third- and fourth-place finishes at the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships in cross country. During Stewart's time, the Johnson & Wales roster increased from 15 student-athletes to more than 40. He also served as the program's interim head coach in 2019, from August through December.
Stewart was also an assistant cross country and track coach at Northfield High School from 2017-18, was an admissions counselor at Ashford University from 2016-17, and was an assistant cross country coach at New Covenant Schools (Va.) in 2015.
A USATF Level 1 certified coach and official, Stewart earned his bachelor's and master's degrees, both with honors, at Division I Liberty.
