Mark Del Monaco

Mark Del Monaco begins his third season as an assistant cross country and track coach with the Roadrunners in 2015-16. He works primarily with the women's distance runners.

In 2014-15, he coached 14 all-Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference athletes and three All-Americans. He helped the women's cross country team to a 23rd-place finish at the NCAA Championships. The women's team also finished 54th at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, led by All-America middle-distance runner Breanna Hemming. Hemming and Michael Warburton both earned second team All-America in outdoor track in the women's and men's 1,500 meters.

He helped guide the cross country and track programs to perhaps their best year in school history. For the first team ever, the Roadrunners scored points at the national meet in cross country, indoor track and outdoor track on both the men's and women's sides. The women's cross country team completed its best season ever, placing eighth at nationals behind All-Americans Breanna Hemming and Janelle Lincks, the first female cross country All-Americans in school history. The men's team was not far behind, placing 13th with Nick Kadlec and Kirk Harvey earning All-America honors. Hemming and Lincks helped the women's distance medley relay team become the first female All-Americans in school history for indoor track. Harvey also earned All-America in the 3k during the indoor season. Hemming (3000m steeplechase) and Hemming (1500m) were also All-Americans during the outdoor season.

Del Monaco joined the Roadrunners after a successful collegiate career as a student-athlete at NCAA Division I La Salle University. He was named to the USTFCCCA all-academic team as a senior in 2010. He graduated from La Salle in 2011 with a bachelor's degree in information technology and a minor in history.

A native of Scotch Plains, N.J., Del Monaco currently runs for Boulder Track Club. He is a two-time USATF half-marathon championships qualifier and was the 2010 Rehobeth Beach half-marathon champion. He also competed at the 2013 Boston Marathon, finishing in 2:36.02. Del Monaco lives in Denver.
