Brenna Millikan

Brenna Millikan finished her first season as the assistant coach for Metro State in 2011.  She re-joined the team in 2011 after taking 2010 off as her family moved to Arizona for a year.  Millikan was an assistant coach under Jen Fisher in 2008 and 2009.  Millikan works primarily with the pitchers.

The 2011 team went 34-18 in her season, winning the RMAC regular season championship and advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the third straight season.  The team's big offense continued as had been the tradition built over the previous three years of the program, as Metro State finished third in the nation in home runs per game and 16th in slugging percentage.  The Roadrunners led the RMAC in scoring and home runs as well.  On the pitching side, Metro State was second in the RMAC in ERA and third in opponent batting average in conference games.  Four players were named All-RMAC, led by all-region outfielder Jenessa Tesone, who finished her career fifth all-time in Division II in home runs.

In 2008, the first year of Metro State's softball program, she worked with three different pitchers and helped them and the team to a 32-18 record.  The Roadrunners had the RMAC's second-best ERA and they were fourth in strikeouts.  Righthander Jessica Fisher finished second in the conference in ERA and lowest opponent batting average.  Libby Balogh earned honorable mention All-RMAC honors.

Millikan's 2009 pitchers continued their dominance.  Brittany Moss and Christie Robinson finished third and fourth in the RMAC in ERA, respectively.  Moss was also second in strikeouts and led the conference in shutouts and lowest opponent batting average.  Both pitchers were named second team all-region, while Robinson was a first team All-RMAC selection and Moss was on the third team.

Prior to coming to Metro State, Millikan served as a head coach at Great Starts Sports Camps, where she worked instructional camps for children ages 4-11, teaching basic throwing, hitting and fielding skills. She also has given private pitching and hitting lessons to young players. In addition, Millikan spent the 2005 and 2006 seasons as the head junior varsity softball coach at Doherty High School in Colorado Springs, Colo.

Millikan began her college career at Otero Junior College, where she played two seasons under Fisher. At Otero, Millikan earned first team all-region honors and was an Academic All-American in 2003. She then transferred to RMAC rival UC-Colorado Springs, where she spent two seasons. Millikan earned RMAC Pitcher of the Year and first team all-RMAC honors in 2004. The Mountain Lions were the 2004 RMAC champions and the South Central regional runner-up. Millikan earned her bachelor's degree in psychology from UCCS, graduating Magna Cum Laude, in 2005.

Millikan, who also earned a master's in education in 2007, and her husband, Brian, reside in Brighton with their son, Keegan.
