Sean Hopkins joined the MSU Denver program as an assistant coach for cross country and track & field in June, 2022.

He works with the Roadrunners' distance runners.

Among his other experiences, Hopkins was an assistant coach at Syracuse from 2017 through 2019, where he coached two individual national champions and 13 All-Americans.

He was an assistant coach at West Virginia for the 2016-17 academic year, helping develop six All-Americans and two Big East champions. It was his second stint at West Virginia -- he was also with the Mountaineers from 2010-14 as an assistant coach.

From 2015-16 he was at the prestigious IMG Academy in Florida where he was the high school program's distance coach.

He was at Division I Hofstra during the 2008-09 academic year as an assistant coach, and previously worked as an assistant coach at Saint Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y., from 2005-06.

As an athlete, he competed for Division I Marist for four years and was was the co-captain of the cross country team during his senior season in 2004.

He graduated from Marist in 2005 with a degree in psychology, and earned master's degrees from West Virginia in athletic coaching in 2011 and sport management in 2017.
