One of the most respected players in program history, Erica Torres joined the MSU Denver women's soccer coaching staff as a student assistant coach for the 2020 season.
  
Torres finished her MSU Denver career in 2019 ranked first in program history with 65 games started in goal, second with 294 career saves and 68 games played in goal, third in shutouts (25), fourth in saves per game (4.32), tied for fourth in wins (30), seventh in goals against average (0.98), and eighth in save percentage (.812).
 
She was a three-time selection to the Academic All-RMAC honor roll, earned All-RMAC second team in 2017 and was a four-time RMAC Goalkeeper of the Week. In May she received the Rowdy Award, symbolic of everything it means to represent the Roadrunners on and off the field of competition.
 
She started all 20 games in goal for the Roadrunners in 2019, posting a 7-9-4 record with four shutouts, a .732 save percentage and a 1.24 goals-against average. She ranked third in the RMAC in shutouts and eighth in saves per game (3.55). She finished second in the RMAC and 32nd in Division II in goalie minutes played, and ranked sixth in the RMAC and 154th in Division II with 69 saves. In league play, she tied for second in the RMAC with three shutouts.
 
She is a cousin of former MSU Denver coach Adrianne Pietz, and Torres' recruitment helped establish a pipeline from Bakersfield, Calif., to MSU Denver.Â
