Erin Gunther joined the MSU Denver coaching staff in February, 2023.
She helped the Roadrunners go 7-6-6 overall and 6-3-3 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play in 2023.
Gunther starred at Division I Creighton before embarking upon an eight-year professional career, and then was an assistant at two Division I schools.

In 2022, Gunther was an assistant coach at Nebraska-Omaha, where she helped lead the Mavericks to their first Summit League Tournament championship in program history. Her duties included film review and scouting reports of opposing teams, organizing travel arrangements, expense reports and spending, and setting up and assisting all training sessions and pre-match warmups.

Prior to Nebraska-Omaha, Gunther was a graduate manager at Louisiana State, from 2020-22. In addition to working with the coaching staff, she provided mentorship for players, worked as an individual coach for youth players in the community, helped organize and coach at LSU soccer summer camps, and helped increase LSU's soccer social media following by nearly five times its previous amount.

Gunther played professionally for eight years in Sweden for Limham Bunkeflo 07, and served as team captain in 2019. While there, she helped the team make club history by qualifying for the top Swedish League, Damallsvenskan. She was also an assistant head coach for IFK Kalmar Academy in Kalmar, Sweden, the feeder club into the women's professional team, from August, 2018, to November, 2019. She also played for the Colorado Pride W-League team from 2013 through 2015.

At Creighton, Gunther was a four-year regular who had career totals of 11 goals and 15 assists for 37 points while playing on Bluejays teams that were a combined 49-22-8, and she was All-Missouri Valley Conference first team in 2011. Her penalty-kick goal in the 98th minute of the 2010 MVC Tournament championship match lifted Creighton into the NCAA Tournament, and helped her earn all-tournament honors. She was also a member of the 2011 all-tournament team. She earned All-MVC honorable mention in 2010 and was a member of the MVC All-Freshman team in 2008. She finished her career as the all-time assists leader at Morrison Stadium, with 15.

As a high school player, at Silver Creek, Gunther was named the Denver Post Class 4A Player of the Year as a senior, leading her team to a 19-0-1 record and the state championship. She earned All-Colorado first team and Class 4A first team honors while scoring 21 goals and adding 19 assists as a senior. She twice tallied hat tricks in the state playoffs as a senior, including in the semifinals. She had career totals of 65 goals and 45 assists for 175 points.

Gunther earned her degree in exercise science at Creighton and her master's in exercise physiology at LSU. She is fluent in Swedish and is also a freelance photographer.
