Former Oregon star Maryn Beutler joined the MSU Denver women's soccer program as an assistant coach in July, 2021.
In her first season with MSU Denver, she helped the Roadrunners to just their second 10-win season since 2014. MSU Denver finished 10-6-2 overall including 7-5 in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play.The Roadrunners allowed only 12 goals in 18 games all season and lost to 10th-ranked UCCS 1-0 in the first round of the RMAC Tournament. Veteran defender Jordan Lewis and midfielder closed out their careers by earning All-South Central Region second team and All-RMAC first team honors. Defender Elli Zimmer and true freshman goalkeeper Kayla Caballero earned All-RMAC second team honors, and defender Kate Giordano was a CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 selection.
Beutler, who played for MSU Denver coach Kat Mertz at Oregon, was an assistant coach at NCAA Division II Western Oregon for the 2020-21 season after previously working under Mertz as director of operations with the Ducks.
Beutler was a midfielder for Oregon from 2012 through 2016, playing in 78 career matches while scoring eight goals and adding two assists for 18 points. Of her eight goals, five were game-winners. At the close of her career, Beutler ranked sixth in program history in career games, tied for seventh in game-winning goals and was ranked ninth in shots (94).
She was named Pacific 12 Conference player of the week on Oct. 25, 2016, after posting a goal and an assist in Oregon's wins over Arizona and Arizona State.
Beutler spent five seasons in the Oregon program, including the last four with Mertz. She sat out the 2014 season as an injury redshirt. Beutler logged more than 1,000 minutes in each of her four playing seasons, starting 64 of her 78 career games. She scored one goal as a freshman, two as a sophomore and as a junior, and three – all game-winners – as a senior.
While living in Oregon, Beutler was actively involved with youth soccer as a Head Club Coach, ODP Assistant Coach, as well as the RTC Director of Coaching, within the Timbers and Thorns Youth Soccer Department.
Beutler was part of several successful teams during her high school career in Bend, Ore., helping lead the team to the 2008 and 2009 state 5A championship as a two-time, all-state first-team selection. She was also a member of the Oregon ODP team for five years and was the Oregon ODP player of the year in 2009-10.
She holds her USSF C License and is a Certified Instructor and Consultant with Equilibria in Sport, and she is currently the Rapids Central, Director of Coaching for the U11-12 Boys Program.
