2013 RMAC defensive player of the week (Oct. 15)

2013: Played in 16 games and started 14 at goalkeeper ... posted a 9-4-1 record with a 1.01 goals against average and .778 save percentage ... made 49 saves and allowed 14 with one solo shutout and two combined shutouts ... won her first seven collegiate starts, allowing two goals during that time and making 15 saves ... earned first career win in a 4-1 victory at New Mexico Highlands on Sept. 29 with four saves ... named RMAC defensive player of the week on Oct. 15 after stopping seven shots and allowing one goal in wins over Regis and Colorado Mesa ... earned combined shutouts on Oct. 4 against Colorado State-Pueblo and on Oct. 18 against Colorado Christian ... recorded first career solo shutout on Oct. 20 with two saves in a 2-0 win over UC-Colorado Springs ... posted a 0.91 GAA and .800 save percentage in three NCAA tournament games ... tied a career high with six saves in a 3-1 win over No. 2 Colorado Mines in the NCAA regional semifinals on Oct. 17.

2012: Battled a shoulder injury all season but appeared in one game off the bench ... did not allow a goal in 13:46 against Western State Colorado on Sept. 3.

High School: 2012 graduate of Standley Lake High School … coached by Joshua Craver … two-year letterwinner … named first team all-conference as a sophomore … posted a .875 save percentage with a 0.78 GAA as a senior ... had a 0.87 GAA and .850 save percentage with five shutouts as a junior in 2011 … two-time all-conference in track & field … placed eighth at state championships in shot put as a junior and ninth in discus.

Club: Played for Westminster AFC … coached by David Castro … led Westminster AFC to 27-3-8 record in 2011 and allowed 41 goals in 38 games.

Personal: Born Karisa Rae Fernandez on June 26, 1994 … daughter of Ken and Cindy Fernandez … has a younger brother, Ryan, and an older brother, Joseph … majoring in human performance & sport.
