Christi Martinelli

Christi Martinelli joined the MSU Denver softball coaching staff in August, 2024.

A former pitcher and first baseman at UC San Diego from 2000 through 2002, she still ranked in the top 10 in various pitching statistical categories as of 2024, including career ERA (1.58), wins (37), strikeouts (314), complete games (38) and innings pitched (358). She had 208 strikeouts in 2002, which still ranked third in a season in program history, while winning 20 games that season. She was named All-California Collegiate Athletic Conference second team in 2002.

Martinelli was also an assistant coach at Azusa Pacific (Calif.) in 2006. At Azusa Pacific, Martinelli served as the team's primary pitching coach and actively participated in player recruitment and assessment of potential recruits.

She returned to softball coaching after extensive experiences, including as the founder/chief executive officer and executive producer of Anchor Shine Productions since 2018. The boutique production company specializing in freelance production services, corporate short form content and content development coaching has relationships with Bravo, Lifetime, HBO, Fox, A & E and MTV. From 2009 through 2018 she was a freelance reality television producer for various production companies and had connections with NBC, Lifetime, FYI, Spike and E!.

Martinelli was a high school director at Bayside Community Church from 2006 through 2009, managing a team of 28 adult volunteers and mentoring high school girls, offering guidance and support in personal academic growth, and facilitating leadership development among students by providing training sessions, monthly meetings and one-on-one coaching for a student leadership team of 23 students, among other responsibilities.

She was also an assistant coach in volleyball and softball and La Canada High School (Calif.) in 2003-04 and again for volleyball in 2010.

Martinelli earned bachelor of arts degrees in both communications and religious studies at UC San Diego in 2002, and a master's in youth, family and culture from Fuller Seminary (Calif.) in 2013.
