Richard "Rick" Hanson joined the MSU Denver women's golf coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2026.
Hanson brings decades of leadership experience and a lifelong passion for the game of golf to the Roadrunners. A four-year letterwinner and starter for the University of Wyoming men's golf team, Hanson has remained actively involved in competitive golf for more than 50 years. He claimed the 1990 Wyoming State Match Play Championship and continues to compete regularly in Colorado Golf Association (CGA) events.
Prior to joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Hanson spent three years coaching at the high school level, helping golfers of varying skill levels improve their performance and understanding of the game.
Outside of golf, Hanson has built an accomplished career as an entrepreneur and business executive. He founded HS Financial Services in 2002 and has more than 35 years of experience in leadership, sales, management and business development. Throughout his career, he has founded and operated multiple successful businesses while developing expertise in recruiting, team leadership and relationship building.
A 1990 graduate of the University of Wyoming with a bachelor's degree in marketing, Hanson combines his competitive golf background with extensive leadership experience to help develop MSU Denver student-athletes on and off the course.
