DENVER – Senior forward
Caleb McGill was named the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference's Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
The Aurora native helped the men's basketball team to two road wins over the weekend. First, the Roadrunners defeated Fort Lewis 65-48 in Durango, then came away with a 90-79 victory over Adams State in Alamosa.
Against the Skyhawks, McGill scored 10 points, pulled down seven rebounds, blocked three shots and added one steal. That following Saturday, the senior scored a season-high 23 points, grabbed 11 boards, swatted two more shots and came away with a season-high three steals.
This is the first weekly RMAC award for any Roadrunner this season. McGill has won two RMAC Offensive Player of the Week awards, both coming during the 2023-2024 season.
McGill leads the RMAC with 9.3 rebounds per game and is second in blocks per game at 1.3.
The Roadrunners have been stout on defense all season long, holding opponents to just 66.6 points per game on the season. That mark is good enough for second in the conference.
McGill and the Roadrunners will be back home this weekend taking on Western Colorado on Thursday at 8 p.m., then battle with Westminster on Saturday at 3 p.m.
