Rally Comes Up Short Against FLC

The No. 15 Metro State men's soccer team battled No. 3 Fort Lewis but could not overcome a late game goal and fell, 3-2, in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) play, in Durango Friday afternoon. The victory guaranteed the conference regular season championship for the Skyhawks. The 'Runners fell to 10-5-3 overall and 7-3-3 in the RMAC.

The Skyhawks scored the first two goals of the afternoon, but the 'Runners responded with two goals within 15 minutes to tie the score. Kellen Johnson netted the first goal on a open net and Ola Sandquist took a pass from Tyler Hambrick and scored the second goal. Fort Lewis went ahead for good in the 67th minute on a goal from Kyle Wood.

The 'Runners return to the field Sunday at Mesa State at 11 a.m.
