The No. 7 Metro State men's soccer team (2-1) defeated Montana State-Billings, 2-1, Monday afternoon in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Kellen Johnson put the 'Runners on the board first at 15:11 in the first half with a backwards chip over the goalie's head from 18 yards out. The Yellowjackets struck back five minutes later with a goal of their own to tie the score at 1-1. The game remained tied until the 44th minute when sophomore Steven Emory put the rebound of a header through the goal post to give the Roadrunners the lead for good.
The game was full of fouls, as both teams received four yellow cards each, but the 'Runners were able to capitalize on their opportunities to take the victory.
Metro State returns home next Friday, Sept. 12th to face Seattle Pacific at 2:30 p.m. MT.
