The No. 16 Metro State men's soccer (6-2-1, 3-0-1 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference) team could not capitalize on scoring opportunities and fell to No. 3 Midwestern State, 4-1, Sunday afternoon at Auraria Field.

The 'Runners opened the scoring just under five minutes into the game when Kellen Johnson took a pass from Ryan Brooks and scored his ninth goal of the season. That was the sole highlight for the 'Runners as Midwestern State capitalized on its opportunities to score four consecutive goals. Despite out shooting the Mustangs (20-15) and the having the same number of shots on goal (6), the Runners could not put another goal through the post.

MSCD returns to RMAC play this Friday when they host Mesa State at 3:30 p.m. The Mavericks are currently a half game behind Metro State and Fort Lewis for the conference lead. The 'Runners host the Skywhawks of Fort Lewis, Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
