DENVER, Colo. – The Metro State volleyball team has designated Friday, Oct. 2 as “Dig for the Cure” night with the Roadrunners, head coach Debbie Hendricks announced. Metro State faces Western New Mexico at 7 p.m. at the Auraria Event Center on campus.
For each Metro State dig vs. Western New Mexico on Friday night, the Roadrunner coaches and staff will donate 25 cents toward the fight against breast cancer. Metro State will donate a portion of ticket revenue from Friday's match to efforts for finding a cure as well. All proceeds will benefit the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
“We recognize the need for finding a cure, and we want to join the cause,” Hendricks said. “This is the 17th year for the Race for the Cure (Sunday), and as a team we wanted to show our support and help raise awareness for this extremely worthwhile cause.”
The Roadrunner volleyball team will wear pink jerseys to show their support and raise awareness for the fight against breast cancer. Fans are encouraged to wear pink to the match and join the cause by matching the Roadrunner volleyball team's contributions.
