Big First Half Pushes Metro State to Blowout Win Past Regis on the Road

Metro State jumped out to a 15-point halftime lead and went on to a 94-75 victory at Regis on Tuesday evening in Denver.  It was the eighth straight victory for the Roadrunners, who improved to 14-2 overall and 7-1 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference.  Regis fell to 6-10 overall and 1-7 in the RMAC.

Reggie Evans (Aurora, Colo./Rangeview H.S.), who led the Roadrunners in scoring in two games over the weekend, including a school record 40-point performance on Friday, continued his hot streak by pouring in a game-high 24 points and a career-high eight rebounds.  Evans hit 9-of-15 from the floor, including 3-of-6 from the outside.

Donte Nicholas (Washington, D.C./Oakton H.S.) had 18 points, five rebounds, three steals and two assists, and hit 8-of-9 from the free throw line.  Jonathan Morse (Boulder, Colo./Fairview H.S.) was perfect from the floor, hitting all seven field goal attempts for 14 points.  He also pulled down seven rebounds.  Brian Minor (Clovis, Calif./Clovis H.S.) led the team with six assists and added seven points.

Glenn Miller (Sacramento, Calif./Foothill H.S.) added 11 points off the bench, tying a career high.  Ten different Roadrunners scored in Tuesday.

It was the third time in the past four games that Metro State has scored over 90 points as it shot 55.9 (33-for-59) percent from the floor.  The Roadrunners forced 22 turnovers in the game.

Metro State led by just two points at 23-21 with eight minutes left in the first half, but then went on an 18-2 run to build a 39-23 lead with three minutes before halftime.  Morse had six points during the run as Metro State took control of the game.

The Roadrunners stretched their lead to as much as 22 points late in the second half.

Metro State will travel to UC-Colorado Springs for an 8 p.m. game on Saturday.
